Sundays at New Thought Center of Hawaiʻi

Come for the inspiration. Stay for the community.

What if Sunday morning could be a place to awaken, connect, and be inspired—without having to fit yourself into a box? At New Thought Center of Hawaiʻi, Sundays bring together music, meditation, spiritual wisdom, personal stories, community connection, and the incredible diversity of teachers and facilitators who call Hawaiʻi home. You might hear a powerful story, discover a new spiritual practice, sing with your neighbors, share something from your own life, meet a local healer or teacher, or simply sit quietly and breathe. There’s room for wherever you are on your journey.

Our Gatherings Include:

✨ Meditation & Reflection: Create space for presence, inner listening, and possibility.

🎶 Live Music & Uplifting Songs: Music is an integral part of our Sunday experience, bringing us together in joy and connection.

🌺 Inspirational Presenters: Hear from a diverse community of local spiritual leaders, healers, teachers, artists, and changemakers sharing wisdom and practices for a more conscious and meaningful life.

💛 Sharing the Miracles & Ordinaries: We make space for the meaningful moments of everyday life: insights, challenges, celebrations, synchronicities, and the experiences that remind us we are part of something greater.

🌱 Resource Sharing: Our community often brings the abundance of Hawaiʻi to share, from fresh fruits and vegetables to plant starts and other offerings from their land.

📚 Spiritual Exploration: Browse and engage with our spiritual library and discover resources to support your ongoing journey.

🌺 Connection & Support: Meet people who are exploring their own paths of growth and awakening. Share your journey, find support, exchange resources, and build meaningful connections.

Closing in Song: We end our Sunday gathering by joining hands to sing a closing song, most often “Hawaiʻi Aloha,” a traditional song honoring the place we are fortunate to call home.

Creating Balance & Connection in our Lives

With Anna Gentzel

Program & Music

Come one, come all, as Anna Gentzel leads Ceremony in honor of Earth's changing seasons. Come in celebration of being alive today!

Come to gather together in community. Come to connect. Come early to drum with us. Anna's deep love of life is palpable as she shares her stories, songs and her knowledge with honest authenticity.

Service begins early at 9:45, for community drumming (see notes below). Also, this service will not be live-streamed.

Anna comes with natural enthusiasm and reverence, wholeheartedly enjoying what she does. Her life-long teaching career offered her the experience of inspiring hundreds of Kona's children in creative, meaningful learning activities.

She carries these skills into her practice of shamanism and delivery of its tenets. Shortly after retirement, Anna met Dr. Hank Wesselman, speaking at New Thought Center. She felt drawn to his topic of Shamanism and continued studying with him. After Hank's passing, she took up study with three of his colleagues on the mainland.

Now, 8 years later, she continues taking classes and workshops. She has practiced, weekly, with a journey circle out of Seattle, WA for three years. Hundreds of meaningful, magical dreams have given her guidance and healing. The lessons she learned through these dream journeys have boosted her confidence, built understanding of herself in the world. Her eyes see differently. Her ears hear differently. The love in her heart is stronger. Her soul is expanding. With the tutelage of her mentors and teachers, Anna has stepped firmly into a new role; that of Sage Medicine Woman, carrying the inherent qualities of teacher, healer and leader of Ceremonies into her community.

Sunday morning's Equinox Ceremony is designed to enhance feelings of balance within our cosmos, our community and ourselves. Anna offers to draw us into closer connection and appreciation of what surrounds us and all that is within us. Through song, prayer, drumming and a shamanic dream journey, participants have a chance to engage hearts, expand souls and relate deeply with one another.

Service Notes: Service begins early, at 9:45am in the Honua Room, if you wish to come for community drumming. No experience is necessary. It's optional to bring rattle or drum and journal for notes. We will learn a Chumash "Welcome" song to sing later in the Ceremony. After announcements, Anna continues with evocations, grounding, heart coherence and honoring the Earth and the ancestors. At 10:45 Shaman Dream Journey begins. There is time for note taking. We close by 12 pm with prayer and our traditional singing of "Hawaiʻi Aloha."

🍂 Seasonal Ceremonies

Four times a year, we modify our usual Sunday service format and gather to honor the changing seasons and the natural rhythms of life.

These special ceremonies are led by local healers, spiritual practitioners, and community members and may include drumming, prayer, guided meditation, sound, song, and ritual—creating space to pause, reflect, release, and welcome the energy of a new season. They are generally scheduled on the Sundays closest to Spring Equinox, Summer Solstice, Fall Equinox and Winter Solstice.

The dates of seasonal observances vary from year to year. Check our calendar for upcoming ceremonies.
